Digital Lab Africa is an initiative of the French Embassy and the French Institute in South Africa, as part of their continued support for Africa’s creative industries. Their objective is to spur African talent in multimedia creation and to make their projects succeed with the support of French and African experts, leading studios, producers, broadcasters and distributors.
The lab offers:
- mentorship and project development support by French and local partners
- residence time in France within digital clusters
- participation in benchmark digital events
Digital Lab Africa calls for submissions from artists, producers, designers, startups and students in the media and creative industries. Any individual or professional from Sub- Saharan Africa with an innovative project within the 5 categories of multimedia production may apply:
- web creation/transmedia
- virtual reality
- video game
- digital music
The expected outcome: producing market-ready content/productions that showcase African creativity. Furthermore, creatives maintain full ownership of their content/productions; unless they choose otherwise.
